Perspectives: Sam’s Perspective – Prostate Cancer
Hello, I’m Sam Jones. Normally, you see me hosting Green Country Perspectives, a 30-minute public affairs program produced here at RSU Public Television. However, today I’m going to take you to a place so personal, I’ve only shared it with family and a few close friends. I call it the journey, because I’m traveling a road new to me. Let me begin by saying, it’s a fact women are stronger than men. I don’t care how you feel about that, because as an attorney friend once said to me, there is no defense for the truth. But if you do feel threatened, think about this,… women face so much more in their lifetime than any man will ever face. Child birth for example. They also live with the threat of breast cancer, and cancer of the various female organs. And they do it with strength and grace.
We men, on the other hand, generally won’t talk about some health issues. Prostate cancer for example. Which brings me to the journey I’m traveling. I want to share my journey in hopes that you will go in for a physical and while you’re there, talk with your doctor about it. It could save your life. Now before you start scrambling for the remote to change channels, let me tell you that I started my prostate cancer journey three years ago. Tonight, I’ll share the treatment I went through and you’ll also meet my doctor and hear, as I do, what I should expect in the future.
Coming up,… the Doctor who has been my guide on this unexpected journey. That’s next on Perspectives.
