Perspectives: Sam’s Perspective – Good News

Hello, I’m Sam Jones. I want to share something with you, given to me by my boss Royal Aills, the General Manager of RSU Public Television. It comes from the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education.
In a study titled “The Economic Role of Oklahoma’s Public Colleges and Universities”, the study demonstrates that Oklahoma’s higher education system supported $8.21 billion of total economic output in Fiscal Year, 2016. Under the heading titled Estimated Economic Impact by Institution, RSU’s total economic output is assessed at $93,400,000 annually, representing 5.2% of the total regional university output.
But there’s more, under another heading titled Ratio of Gross Economic Output to Appropriations, RSU’s ratio is 7.6, the 4th highest of all 11 regional universities, with a median regional ratio of 7.1. This tells the public that RSU’s productivity rate is higher than the regional average and we are a safe and desirable source for investing public money.
The Boss says, this is very good news for RSU and something to brag about.
To tell you the truth, I don’t understand all of it but he explained it this way, simply put, RSU is a great and sustaining value to Northeast Oklahoma.
That’s something I do understand.
And that’s my perspective.
