During World War II, fierce aerial battles and daring bombing raids took place over Europe every day and night. SHOT DOWN: ESCAPING NAZI EUROPE tells the astonishing and emotional stories of three Royal Airforce (RAF) pilots who survived being stranded behind enemy lines and the remarkable resistance fighters, some of them young French women, who helped save their lives and smuggle them out. Clips of World War II adventure films are interspersed throughout the documentary to illustrate the pilots’ experiences, while the airmen who bailed out over occupied territory contribute harrowing and dramatic stories of their perilous scramble home.
